An overview on Cancer Research

Cancer being one of the most fearful diseases till date, the research is carried on it. All the researches related to cancer are the basic researches and they are performed to spot out the causes and develop the approaches to diagnose, prevention, treatment and cure.

There are various other fields of medical sciences which contribute a lot in cancer research namely, molecular bioscience, epidemiology, radiation therapy, surgery, hormone therapy, chemotherapy, chemo-radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and biotechnology research such as gene therapy etc.

Cancer research is made on three different fields primarily. The first section deals with the causes of cancer. Other disciplines like diet, genetics, and environmental factors are very much related to this type of research works. In this research works, data are collected primarily for further experiments. But some pre-clinical examinations are performed on the mice as the mammalian model.

The next stage is related in finding the cancer infected cells and the trend of spreading cancer in human body. Some clinical experiments are also done to find out if any kinds of genes are responsible for this disease.

The last field in cancer research deals primarily on the treatment and vaccines regarding cancer. Cancer treatment deals on the following things primarily:

v  Chemotherapy

v  Immune-boosting

v  Photodynamic therapy

v  Gene therapy

v  Targeted therapy

v  Reolysin drug theraphy

v  Radiation therapy

v  Anti-Cancer Vaccine

Clinical researches are being performed on the following vaccines of cancer:

v  Canine Melanoma Vaccine

v  HPV vaccine for genital warts, vaginal, cervical, penile and oral cancer

v  HBV virus that leads to liver cancer

v  Oncophage

Scientists are trying to find the relation between cancer and Vitamin-D deficiency. If they really find anything fruitful, it may change the whole course of cancer research.
