Obesity-Prevention Drugs

The discovery of the genetic makeup of a hormone secreted by leptin has bring scientist a step closer to the obesity-prevention drug which can control the weight gain by decreasing the appetite of the consumer and regulating the metabolism or energy burning processes of the body. With the promising result on research conducted to both animal and human, we can expect a bigger chance of having the real drug which will work properly to prevent obesity.
The researchers from Tufts University have conducted a study on synthetic leptin hormone which injected to a group of people in different dose. The result is quite exciting, in a month, those who received leptin had lost weight four times bigger than those who didn’t get inject. It also turns out that the amount of leptin injected to the people has a big part in determining the amount of weight loss rate.
However, scientists warn to do more research because even though the result is quite promising, there are some side effects that may occur during or after the injection. To find a more accurate result, the same studies which involving larger group of people are also conducted. They are optimistic that it is just about time for us to get the solution for obesity with obesity-prevention drug.
